Al Qaeda No. 2 Said to Be Saved by Chance

I ain't buying the whole "Zawahiri not killed" thing until Zawahiri issues one of his broadcasts. I just think the whole thing sounds like bullshit.

A missed dinner appointment may have spared Al Qaeda's second in command from a U.S. airstrike on a Pakistani border village, Pakistani intelligence officials said Sunday.

You know, Saturday Pakistani officials said no one in the village that the US bombed had any Al-Qaeda connections or even knew Ayman al-Zawahiri. Now they're saying they invited him to dinner. Watch the flip-flop.

The two officials said this could explain why Friday's predawn attack missed its apparent target, Ayman Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant.

Are we all sure it missed? Zawahiri hasn't spoken up at all. It was reported that bodies were quickly removed from the site immediately after the KABOOM. So, maybe, just maybe, Pakistan is fibbing.
Don't you think there would have to be some good intelligence before the CIA sends a Hellfire missile into someones kitchen? Things aren't adding up here.

Zawahiri instead sent some aides to the dinner, which marked an Islamic holiday; investigators were trying to determine whether they were among the 17 killed in three houses that were destroyed in the missile strike, one of the officials said.

Moral of this story? Don't invite worldwide wanted terrorists over for dinner. If my best friend in the world was wanted by an entire country that had a track record of blowing things up and wanted to sleep in my guest room I would send him packing, especially if I have kids in the house.

If innocents were killed in the bombings it wouldn't be the fault of the US or Pakistani government but the fault of the moron who invited Al-Qaeda into the house. Take responsiblity for turning your village into a target.

Personally, I think Zawahiri is dead. And if not, he's hiding somewhere crying about his 'close call'.
