Shark Attacks Man Off Maui

Sometimes that shark looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about a shark is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be livin'... 'til he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all your poundin' and your hollerin' those sharks come in and... they rip you to pieces.
- Quint from the movie Jaws

A San Diego man was attacked by a shark Wednesday while swimming in the ocean off Maui, officials said. Jonathan Genant, 29, was alone when a shark bit his left hand about 200 yards off Keawakapu Beach. He was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. Hospital spokeswoman Carol Clark said Genant lost his little finger and a portion of his ring finger.

There's many reasons I tend not to swim too much in the ocean.

Reason # 1: There are many things in the ocean that can kill you if you step on them
Reason # 2: There are many things in the ocean that can kill you if they touch you
Reason # 3: There are many things in the ocean that can kill you if they bite you
Reason # 4: There are many things in the ocean that will eat you
Reason # 5: We don't know about everything in the water just yet

Have you ever been to an aquarium? Seen those creatures that swim along between your legs while you're hovering in the water? Fuck that. The ocean is a sharks home, he doesn't come to my house, I stay out of his. Nothing wrong with swimming but it's always a risk, especially in the warmer waters.
Problem is that now people are going to hunt the shark that bit this guy as an example to other sharks that...what...they can't do what they're breed to? You go in the water it's like getting out of the truck in the Serengetti. Something might try to eat you.

Respect the water cause some of the things in it won't respect you enough not to call you lunch
